Can you introduce yourselves and your store and tell everyone a little about how your store came to be?
We are The Famous Little Lamp Shop, it started about 20 years ago as a husband and wife team and is still owned by them now. They first had a small shop in Studley before moving to Alcester, where our showroom is made up of two units with a ground floor and first floor in each.
What can people expect when they come to your store?
Customers can expect a warm welcome from our small team of knowledgeable staff. We have over 1000 lights on display, which range from small table lamps to large feature lights. We have some ranges which are made in England, including Arcform. We also have mirrors, home accessories, occasional furniture and artwork for sale.
What are the best bits of running your store?
We enjoy talking to customers and helping them find the right lights for their projects or renovations. But we can also offer advice on light bulbs and different types of lights that are available. We especially enjoy seeing the photo’s when customers have installed their lights and we can see the finished article in a real life situation. We upload these onto our website in the ‘customer gallery’ section.
What do you look for when searching for products to stock in the store?
We like to look for unusual lights and accessories that are a little bit different. We do have a lot of everyday lighting as well as statement pieces, we try to cater for all tastes and budgets.
Who is your typical customer?
We don’t have a typical customer as such, it could be a young couple moving into their first home, or people who are renovating a house they’ve been in for years.
